Nintendo Switch Online Game Voucher $99.99 save $19.99

Supposedly, all good deals come to an end, as was the case with Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers this week. Revealed during the end of the Super Mario Maker 2 Direct, this Nintendo Switch Online-exclusive deal allowed subscribers to save $19.99 USD on a select pair of games via the eShop. Sadly, the offer was only available until July 31; while the Vouchers themselves are good for a year after purchase, Nintendo is no longer offering this perk. At least, that is the case for North America, as the offer is apparently still up in Europe and Japan.

Vouchers leave North America

In fact, there allegedly was no deadline on Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers at all overseas. This makes North America’s case all the more perplexing, as they have no plans in reintroducing Vouchers in the near future. This is no accident, if their recently updated FAQ is anything to go by:

As of July 31, 2019, Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers are no longer available for purchase. Previously purchased Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers can be redeemed for eligible digital titles up to 12 months from the purchase date. Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers are not currently scheduled to return, but Nintendo of America is continually evaluating special offers for Nintendo Switch Online members.

It is a little disheartening to lose out on such a neat benefit for Nintendo Switch Online. Still, Switch owners overseas can still take advantage of it with no danger of a deadline for the time being. Hopefully, Nintendo of America will change their tune on it in the future; I admittedly bought a pair on impulse the night before the offer was pulled. Now to think of what games to redeem them on…

Did you purchase Game Vouchers recently? Would you want this offer to return soon? Let us know in the comments.
