The final boss in Wolfenstein: Youngblood is a huge step up from any enemies before him. Mostly due to his insanely OP gun that can knock both you and your partner down in a matter of seconds. Luckily, I have some tips on how you can deal with this massive difficulty spike.
Tips in this article are for the very final section of the boss fight that takes place on the landing zone
(Spoilers for who the final boss in Youngblood is)
Open the nearby supply room with electrokraftwerk.
This small room contains ammo, armor, and health that’ll render useful in the battle.
Don’t waste your ammo in the beginning (mostly) use God key
At the beginning of the final boss fight, you’ll need to shoot Lothar Brandt’s jetpack in order to bring him out of the sky. However, there’s not a lot of ammo scattered around this battlezone and you’ll need your ammo for later in the fight. It’s best to suck up bullets from other enemies with God key and use it to throw those bullets at Lothar’s jetpack. I jumped up close to him and took him down with four to five blasts at close range. You’ll likely still need your guns to take out certain enemies during the fight, just be wary of ammo.
Kill everyone else before phase 2 of the fight
Midway through the fight, Lothar Brandt will crash into one of the four corner-buildings. When he does this, don’t immediately go to him. Keep your distance from where he crashes and kill all the other grunts in the area, including the ones above. That way you can focus on him and only him during the second half of the boss battle.
Use the middle circle for cover
Now that you’re stocked up on ammo and don’t have to worry about any other enemies (aside from a jet annoyingly firing missiles), you can engage with Brandt for the second time. Once he busts out he’ll use a beam attack that is extremely deadly. For this portion of the fight, I found the concrete circle in the middle of the landing pad really useful for cover. You can constantly walk around the circle to stay hidden from him. Pop in and out repeatedly firing all the ammo you have at him. Sooner or later he’ll grow weaker and less lethal. Just make sure you time your cover correctly– a few slip-ups and you’re dead. Rinse and repeat and he’ll be dead in no time.
That’s my experience with the final boss of Wolfenstein: Youngblood and how I went about defeating him. This final boss fight is definitely one of the toughest battles I’ve had in recent memory and it is quite aggravating. Aside from this fight, I had a few other gripes with Wolfenstein: Youngblood, and you can watch my video on that below. However, in the end, I still thought the game was a lot of fun.
