Resident Evil Capcom test secret game

We recently reported on the fact that Capcom is testing out a secret game. Specifically, they appear to have a new Resident Evil in the works. Capcom reached out to players in the survival horror franchise’s Ambassadors program, offering them the chance to go hands-on and give feedback. At first, this offer was limited to Japanese players, but that just changed. Capcom has started sending out applications to Ambassadors in the United States as well.

These sessions will take place in Los Angeles on September 20-21 and in New York on September 23-24. Not all applicants will be chosen to participate. Those who are chosen will need their own transportation to the test sites. This is strictly a volunteer situation, though I would imagine most Ambassadors would consider hands-on gameplay worth the trip.

Unfortunately, Capcom didn’t provide any details to help us determine what this game is. An email provided by Patrick Copeland shows that the game is “in early development,” so don’t expect a reveal in the immediate future. After the successes of Resident Evil 7 and the Resident Evil 2 remake, they’ll want to keep that trend of critical acclaim going. They should take all the time they need to deliver a quality product.

For now, all we can do is speculate. Capcom could be looking for feedback on the direction of Resident Evil 8. They could be planning another remake, like Nemesis. Or they might even have something completely different up their sleeves. What would you like to see next from this historic survival-horror series?
