Link’s Awakening was one of the most memorable experiences on Game Boy. Koholint Island is brimming with charm, and its lovable characters resonated with many fans. That said, any game starts to show its age after more than 25 years. That’s why Nintendo is remaking Link’s island adventure on Nintendo Switch. The Link’s Awakening remake features an adorable new art style that really brings the island to life. Nintendo recently showed off some new footage of Tal Tal Heights, and GameXplain quickly whipped up a comparison video. See how the remake stacks up to the old by clicking below!

Comparison reveals a gameplay change
The new visuals in the remake are fantastic! It’s a fresh, new look, but it stays true to the tone of the original. The quality of the footage in the video is less than ideal, but that’s due to the fact that it was captured on Twitter. It will look much more crisp and clear on an actual Switch screen.
As GameXplain points out in their video, there’s also a significant gameplay change. You can now break the boulders of Tal Tal Heights with your shield. In the original Link’s Awakening you just had to avoid them at all costs. It’s a simple change, but it should make that section significantly easier to navigate. Are you happy with this change, or should Nintendo have instead preserved the original difficulty? Let us know your thoughts on the Link’s Awakening remake in the comments below!
