SNES games on Switch - Earthbound

A Resetera user recently spotted an official SNES Wireless Controller FCC filing, which could very well signal the pending launch of SNES titles on Switch online. Now, I could type volumes about Nintendo’s absolutely abysmal handling of their retro content in the post-Wii U era. But today, I would rather just bask in what could be a modicum of progress and discuss the most exciting SNES games that could land on Switch. What do you hope is in that first hypothetical wave? For me, I’m extremely hopeful that EarthBound will be there when SNES games launch on the system.

I really, really like EarthBound, but I have had an extremely hard time finishing it on Wii U. That has been the case for a long time and likely will be for the foreseeable future. That is why almost every RPG I do manage to complete nowadays is on a portable system. On Switch, I really feel like I could give EarthBound the attention it deserves during my little breaks throughout the day. Heck, eventually, I might even finish it. The Switch’s portability is a beautiful thing, and classic Nintendo games stand to benefit a lot from it – especially longer ones like EarthBound.

What about you? What SNES games are you hoping for? Have you never been able to give Donkey Kong Country a fair shot? Or maybe you are chain-chomping at the bit for a chance to experience Super Mario RPG. Whatever it is you are looking forward to, let us know in the comments.
