Flopping Magikarp plush Pokémon, Nintendo merchandise

It’s time for another exciting episode in the world of Nintendo merchandise. Recently, we highlighted a life-size Mareep plush that you guys seemed to love. This time, we have a decidedly less impressive but still really cute Pokémon plush to share: flopping Magikarp.

It is exactly what it sounds like. It is a 10-inch Magikarp plush that flops, wiggles, and shakes by the power of three AAA batteries. It retails for $29.99, but Amazon is selling it for $21.99 at the time of this writing. And to reinforce how true to its word this product is, the single review for flopping Magikarp scores it five stars, and it reads, “It flops! Need I say more?” Case closed, nonbelievers!

My favorite thing about flopping Magikarp is just the advertising image they use for it. The expressions on the faces of those two children are not what happens when a person sees a wiggly fish. Those are the expressions of kids who have just won a million dollars or front-row tickets to a BTS concert. It’s a totally over-the-top reaction for what is the most completely worthless Pokémon.

That being said, I dare say flopping Magikarp now ranks among my favorite Nintendo merchandise, though Kirby nap pillow will always be hard to beat. What do you think of this plucky little guy?
