Bandai Namco has finally given the release date for their upcoming anime-based farming game, Doraemon Story of Seasons. The game was shockingly announced in the west a few months ago, despite Doraemon having almost no cultural significance in North America or the UK at all. To be honest, it all felt kind of like a joke with no punchline. Nevertheless, we now know for a fact that the game will launch on Oct 11 for the Switch and PC.

The new game inserts Doraemon, a cat robot from the future, and his friends into the popular farming franchise. Like the standard Story of Seasons or Harvest Moon games, the action revolves around running a farm and building relationships with other characters around town. In this case, you’ll be playing as Noby (Nobita Nobi in the original manga) and living your best life in a vibrant storybook landscape.
Doraemon is a big deal
In the manga, Doraemon provides Nobita and his friends with technological gadgets that often help with everyday chores. In Doraemon Story of Seasons, you’ll be playing in a more fantasy looking setting. Still, Doraemon will be there to help you out with his signature tech.
The Doraemon Manga started way back in 1970 and has had over 2,300 anime episodes to date. As the first Doraemon video game officially released in North America, I’m extremely curious to see what people think. If you’re like me and absolutely itching for a new farming game, it might be a good time to brush up on your Doraemon lore.
We still have no release date for Rune Factory 4 Special or Story of Seasons: Reunion at Mineral Town, not to mention the very little we know about Rune Factory 5. It looks like Doraemon Story of Seasons will have to hold us over for now. Will you be joining Doraemon and his friends?
