Doom Eternal

Doom Eternal director Marty Stratton revealed that the bloody demon-killing sequel’s campaign should last anywhere from 18 to 22 hours.  Doom Eternal is one of this year’s hotly-anticipated titles in no small part thanks to its well-received predecessor. The game was the talk of the town at this year’s QuakeCon and the game’s co-directors, Hugo Martin and Marty Stratton, sat down to discuss the gritty details of Doom Eternal with QConForums. With any single-player campaign, the one question that’s top of mind is typically the campaign length.

Stratton’s view of the campaign length is the “complete form” of the single-player adventure. He insinuated that this estimate incorporates players seeking out extras that aren’t mission-critical to the campaign. He shared that he heard reports of a varying range of hours with the campaign in Doom (2016). Stratton equated this range with the different levels of depth players took in their quest to destroy evil and whether they went the extra mile to obtain all the collectibles and find all the secret areas. Of course, the difficulty setting also plays a role in a game’s length

If you’re interested in learning more about Doom Eternal straight from the horse’s mouth, check out the entire interview at QConForums with Stratton and Martin. The particular discussion over the campaign length is in part 3 of 15. So there’s plenty to soak up from this interview.

Doom Eternal launches for Nintendo Switch on Nov 22 alongside the release on other platforms.
