Earlier this week, Nintendo of Europe sat down at Gamescom to show off more of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. The hands-on presentation had Link explore reimagined areas like the Angler’s Tunnel, Yarna Desert, and the new Chamber Dungeon. Incidentally, it is also in Yarna Desert where Nintendo fans will encounter a familiar-looking foe, seemingly pulled straight from the Mario series. With that, the official Zelda Twitter recently featured another look at Pokey on their profile, as well as introduced another enemy: Ghini.

Like in their native series, Pokey is a towering, sentient cacti that hurts Link on contact. The only way to effectively defeat them is to whittle their bodies down to their heads; mind their segments bouncing around the map though! Pokeys are but one of many Mario enemies you will find in Link’s Awakening; Goombas, Thwomps, and Shy Guys among others can also be found.

Following Pokey, the Zelda Twitter showed off Koholint Island’s Cemetery, a graveyard located near the island’s center serving as the home of the spooky Ghini! If Link isn’t careful, these creepy ghoulies can easily overwhelm him with sheer numbers. Run away if you like; however, you’ll likely want to stick around the Cemetery if you want to make it into the Color Dungeon!
