Pokémon fans have been hotly anticipating the next mobile outing in the long-running monster-battling RPG series. Pokémon Masters had a placeholder release date of August 29 since pre-registration began back in July. Today, though, it’s been confirmed that the official launch date for the iOS and Android game is, indeed, August 29!

While DeNA and The Pokémon Company initially had the launch date listed as “subject to change”,  the Japanese Twitter account for the mobile game just announced that the mobile title will launch next week, on August 29, 2019.

The final countdown

Additionally, the Japanese tweet announced a special countdown event. Every day, starting from Saturday, August 24, the official Twitter account will post a new countdown illustration to celebrate the coming launch of the Pokémon mobile game. They’ll be collaborating with other accounts for these celebration posts, as well.

Pokémon Masters had a soft-release last month in Singapore and Canada. Fans in those regions could download and begin playing the full game as early as July 24, so they might have a bit of a head-start on the rest of us.

If you’re not familiar with Pokémon Masters, it’s the newest mobile phone game release from Nintendo. While Pokémon GO was developed by Niantic, this new game is developed by DeNA. The mobile developer is behind every other main franchise Nintendo mobile game, like Fire Emblem: Heroes and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.

While Pokémon GO is a unique spin on the franchise, Masters aims to be a bit more accurate to the games. You’ll engage in familiar trainer battles as you explore the game and encounter new partners and allies. Every battle is a 3-on-3 team battle, meaning you’ll need to collect a variety of skilled Pokémon trainers to join your team if you want to come out on top.

Look forward to jumping into Pokémon Masters when it launches on iOS and Android August 29, 2019.
