Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is coming to Switch

As its still-unknown October release day inches closer, Playtonic is continuing their dripfeed of info on Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair. Today, they used their YouTube channel to share a new tune from the game’s soundtrack, put together by none other than the legendary Grant Kirkhope. The track, titled “The One Brook,” is embedded below for your listening pleasure. Make sure to keep an eye on the video around the forty-five-second mark.

I really enjoyed “The One Brook.” Along with being very recognizably done by Kirkhope, it has a lackadaisical, spring-time feeling to it that takes me back to several of Rare’s past game worlds, like Click Clock Wood from Banjo-Kazooie.

The more we learn on Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, the more I get excited about it. I am hopeful for a platformer that can successfully emulate the first two Donkey Kong Country games, and while I am not expecting something that amazing, I will be more than happy if Playtonic’s sophomore title can even come close to such a pedigree. At the very least, the soundtrack is shaping up wonderfully.

What do you think of “The One Brook?” Are you looking forward to Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair? Let us know in the comments!
