Quackshot

Today saw some pretty happy news with the GameXplain-verified rumors of an upcoming HD double-pack featuring remasters of SNES / Genesis favorites The Lion King and Aladdin. Many of us have childhood favorite Disney games–I was way too huge a fan of Donald Duck: Goin’ Quackers on Gamecube back in my kindergarten days–and beyond The Lion King and Aladdin, there are plenty of Disney titles worth a remake. Several have received such love, such as Castle of Illusion and Ducktales, but there are plenty more that still deserve another go. What title comes to mind for you? For me, I have to choose a different game featuring Disney’s iconic feathered grump: Quackshot Starring Donald Duck.

While it certainly may be nostalgia talking, Quackshot has always stood out to me ahead of several great Genesis platformers. For those unfamiliar with the game, Quackshot‘s gameplay revolves around Donald Duck’s special gun, capable of firing plungers, popcorn, and bubblegum. Players must use all of these items in tandem to take down enemies, solve puzzles, and complete the hunt for the Great Duck Treasure. It is a simple, pleasant platformer that I remember fondly as one of the very first video games which I fell in love with, and I’ll still pop it in every few years for a quick fix of Donald Duck’s glorious chili-pepper-fueled temper tantrums. The title would work fabulously on Switch with an HD coat of paint.

Do you have any great Disney game memories? Any you would really like to see land on Switch? Let me know in the comments.
