The time to bash some skulls and save some boyfriends is almost upon us. River City Girls, the upcoming brawler spin-off of River City Ransom being developed by WayForward Games, has just unleashed a bunch of pre-orderable goodies via Limited Run Games.
Physical pre-orders are open
While the super cute sprite-based beat-em-up is set to release digitally on a variety of consoles, as of today, Nintendo Switch and PS4 owners can now lock in a physical copy of River City Girls for $34.99. Until Sept 30, Limited Run Games is offering pre-orders on physical releases of the game for both systems. These include interior cover art, a full-color manual, and the soundtrack on a physical CD. While Best Buy is set to sell the game down the line, this Limited Run Games version has exclusive alternate cover art.
If you’re a die-hard fan of all things Kyoko and Misako, you can show your support by buying the special $74.99 Classic Edition of the game. On top of coming with the physical copy of River City Girls, this collector’s edition has a huge suite of bonus goodies. There’s a reversible 18 x 24-inch poster with an illustration of our badass protagonists Kyoko and Misako on one side, while the other side is a replica Noize Cracked Skull Tour band poster. There’s also an expanded 2-disc CD soundtrack. It has even more dope tunes on it than the default pack-in soundtrack does.
On top of that, there’s an incredible (and non-functional) replica old-school NES cartridge labeled to look like an NES copy of River City Girls. There’s also a couple of unique in-universe goodies, like VIP Noize concert tickets or a dining menu from Merv’s Burgers. It even has a replica of Hasebe and Mami’s heart locket, who are two characters from the old-school Kunio-kun games.
But wait, there’s more. You’ll also nab replica school ID cards of the protagonists, Kyoko and Misako. On top of that, you get Polaroid photos from the kidnappers who have stolen their boyfriends, Riki and Kunio. Finally, you’ll get a set of six character art cards, plus a giant commemorative box to store all of your goodies in.
River City Girls goes vinyl
On top of physical copies of River City Girls, Limited Run Games is also opening orders on a vinyl LP pressing of the soundtrack for the game. This double-LP soundtrack features two brightly colored vinyl discs, as well as gorgeous gatefold art exclusive to this vinyl. A tracklist isn’t available, but the full game’s soundtrack is said to feature contributions from artists like NateWantsToBattle, Chipzel, and even Cristina Vee. There are only 1,000 copies of it, so vinyl-heads better act fast if they want one.
