Link’s Awakening holds a special place in the hearts of many players. It was the first major handheld Zelda game and a memorable one at that. Still, after more than 25 years, it’s definitely showing its age. That’s why Nintendo is remaking the island adventure for a whole new generation! The new and improved version launches on just nine days on September 20. Most reviews are still under embargo, but popular Japanese publication Famitsu has theirs out early.
Link’s Awakening: First review
As usual, they had four editors each give a score out of ten. Under this format, the highest possible score is 40/40. The Link’s Awakening remake received scores of 9, 9, 9, and 8 for a total of 35/40. That’s a pretty impressive score, and it ties with eFootball PES 2020 for the highest Famitsu score of the week. That shouldn’t be too surprising to most people. The original game was a masterpiece and Famitsu pretty much always scores Zelda games favorably. That said, it’s still a great start for the game’s public reception. You can check out the rest of the scores from this week below.
