Nintendo Switch Lite - Triple Colors

The portable-only member of the Switch family, the new Switch Lite, is just days away from its formal release. The petite system made its debut earlier this summer, and now the wait for its release is drawing to an end. Still, we’re not quite there yet—but that hasn’t stopped some retailers from showing off the goods.

Twitter user ‘@DJDaveReed’ spotted boxes of each color of the Lite locked away behind the glass of a local Walmart store in Georgia, USA.

Even though this Walmart has already put its stock on the show floor, as someone other users have pointed out, that doesn’t mean the store will actually sell it to customers. This is due to the computer systems being allowed to only start ringing up the products when their launch date comes. However, it seems that this particular person did manage to score a Lite early.

Reed posted a picture of a receipt that does indicate a purchase was made:

It’s not possible to say for sure if this definitively proves that Reed actually was able to buy a unit from this Walmart, however. While the above receipt does confirm a purchase was made, I’m a bit suspicious they didn’t bother to also show off the system itself along with the machine. This leads me to believe the receipt could potentially be for a pre-order, but once again, not even that can be said for sure.

Nevertheless, Nintendo is likely not going to do anything to customers users that do manage to score a system early. After all, the fault lands on any retailers that choose to sell them. This could land them in hot water with Nintendo later down the line.
