There is no denying that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is one of the best gaming experiences one can find on Nintendo Switch. This cute little slice of zen allows players to zone out, mingle with adorable animal folk, and create the island getaway of their dreams – all at their own pace. However, for all of its strengths and merits, New Horizons is not without its flaws. With a ton of menus and prompts to constantly mash buttons to, the game can be an exercise in tedium. Enter YouTuber Nick Ha, who compiled a number of quality-of-life ideas into not just any kind of video, but one that hilariously mimics Nintendo’s own Directs! Check out the fan-made Animal Crossing Direct below.
Quality-of-life improvements you didn’t know were missing
As much as it pains me to say it, Animal Crossing: New Horizons could be so, so much better with even half of these ideas. Combined crafting and customizing, plus crafting multiple items at once? The ability to sort your items automatically rather than dragging each item around separately? A dedicated Dodo Airlines app so you don’t always have to go see Wilbur to open your island to visitors? Yes please, to all of these! The game feels lacking without them!
The six minute fake presentation goes the extra mile with voice talents that sound just like those you’d hear in a real Direct. Kudos to voice actresses Kira Buckland, Lizzie Freeman, and Madeline Dorroh for almost making me believe this was the real deal! Editor Serena Bellamy also did a terrific job in animating some of these proposed changes, almost like they were pulled straight from the game (if only).
That said, Nick is open to making another one of these faux Directs in the future. While the quality-of-life proposals in the video would solve a ton of issues, he would love to hear your suggestions. Be sure to leave comments with your ideas on either his video or on his Patreon.
