Developer Asobo Studio and publisher Focus Home Interactive have announced that A Plague Tale: Requiem will come not only to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2022 but also to Nintendo Switch exclusively as a cloud version. A Plague Tale: Requiem is too beefy and powerful to run natively on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, but thanks to cloud streaming technology, that will not be an issue for Nintendo Switch. Frankly, that’s really cool and demonstrates how far developers are willing to go to put their games on the ultra-lucrative hybrid platform.
A Plague Tale: Requiem is the sequel to A Plague Tale: Innocence, which notably never released on Switch. As the title would suggest, it takes place during the time of the Black Death and is about two children trying to survive. Gameplay involved a mix of elements like stealth and adventure. The sequel will see the children, Amicia and Hugo de Rune, continue their “struggle for survival in a dark, plague-ridden medieval world.” Other than that, all we know about the game comes from its absolutely beautiful in-engine trailer below, which should be enticing even if you don’t much care for its style of gameplay.
Tell us what you think of A Plague Tale: Requiem receiving a cloud version on Nintendo Switch in 2022, while PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are left out in the cold. This is more noteworthy than, say, Control and Hitman 3 receiving cloud versions.
