We know from Ubisoft’s recent financial results that it is the top third-party publisher on Nintendo Switch, thanks to games like Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, Just Dance, and Immortals Fenyx Rising. However, there may be something bigger where those came from. An Ubisoft Chengdu job listing spotted by YouTuber Doctre81 seems to suggest that an “unexpected” AAA Ubisoft game is in development for Nintendo Switch and other platforms.
The Chengdu job listing begins by enticing applicants with the prospect of developing “an unexpected Ubisoft AAA game,” then says that the job entails working with Ubisoft studios across the globe to make games for Nintendo Switch, PC, and next-gen platforms. You can view the relevant portion of the job description below:
Want to be a part of a team working on an unexpected Ubisoft AAA game? Excited by the idea of communicating with game developers from all over the world? Obsessed by continuously improving what you’re doing right now? Come and meet us!
You will be working in Chengdu, together with teams from multiple Ubisoft studios all over the world. You will work mainly on PC/Nintendo Switch and next gen versions of future AAA Ubisoft titles. We are driven by our desire to ship and constantly take on greater challenges in an unprecedented scope.
Ubisoft Chengdu opened in China in 2008, and in recent years it has supported the development of titles like Assassin’s Creed Origins, For Honor, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and the still unreleased Skull & Bones. It may also be supporting Ubisoft with a major title we don’t know about yet — or perhaps it’s assisting with Massive Entertainment’s Star Wars game.
