The Switch is no stranger to open-world exploration titles, but this little Nindie from Ustwo Games stands out. Alba: A Wildlife Adventure is all about following little Alba on her journey through an island in the Mediterranean where she’s visiting her grandparents during her summer vacation. On this journey, she’ll come across various animals. But, Alba has a soft spot for her furry friends, and if she spots one in distress, she wants to do what she can to help.

Alba will venture forth with her grandad and her friend Ines by her side and clean up the island from litter, saving her animal pals in the process and documenting her story by means of her smartphone camera. Not to mention she’s quite convincing when it comes to getting the fellow islanders to help out!

The developers of Alba: A Wildlife Adventure describe the game as being a “chillectathon”, as players will run around the island at their own pace, exploring and finding new species of animals. Considering that it’s summertime in the northern hemisphere right now, this seems like exactly the title to sit down and relax with on a hot day. In fact, the developers even created this based on experiences taken from their childhood summers—so it’s quite fitting!

Alba: A Wildlife Adventure came out on PC a while back, but now it’s soon ready to make its debut on consoles. Our friends over at PC Invasion, one of our sister sites, awarded the game a glowing score of 9/10, calling it “the comfiest game of 2020”. With the ability to take it on the go with the Nintendo Switch, that cozy feeling can be enjoyed any and everywhere.

This open-world indie island adventure will set sail on June 9, 2021, for the price of $19.99 and it’s available to pre-order right now from the Nintendo Switch eShop.
