Publisher Iceberg Interactive and developer Joy Manufacturing Co. have announced that diplomatic dating sim / visual novel Ambition: A Minuet in Power will launch on Nintendo Switch and PC this summer. The game has been in the works for a while now, having had a successful Kickstarter at the end of 2017, and a new trailer shows off how the game is shaping up.
Ambition: A Minuet in Power is set in 18th century Paris, where you are a woman looking to amass wealth and respect while dating various men and engaging in “gossip that can alter the course of history, or lead you to the guillotine.” Your calendar will help you keep on top of your various commitments, which is important since — uh oh — the French Revolution is coming. All of this will be set to a soundtrack by John Robert Matz, who worked on Gunpoint and For the King.
Basically, Ambition: A Minuet in Power is the type of game where you already instantly know if it appeals to you or not, between its visual novel trappings and period drama romance. In all honesty, this is not my sort of game whatsoever, but I did enjoy Cinders back in the day, so who knows? Let us know if this one is up your alley.
