Among Us Switch Nintendo Switch release date today nintendo indie world showcase innersloth

Among Us shadow dropped on Nintendo Switch last month and has rocketed to the top of the EU download charts. Its $5 price tag may well have something to do with it, but it’s no mean feat to beat out the likes of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe over the festive period. Nintendo of Europe has revealed the top 15 downloaded titles for the month of December.

Rounding out the top five are Minecraft, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Super Mario Party. There aren’t any figures attached to the charts, but Among Us must have shifted a fair amount to come above that group. It’ll be interesting to see how the title does over the course of 2021.

For the unaware, Among Us actually first launched on PC way back in 2018. However, it took until 2020 to hit it big in the mainstream, becoming a popular online game during COVID-19 lockdowns. The premise is simple but oddly compelling, where up to 10 players are trying to fix up a spaceship for departure, while one is chosen as an imposter. The imposter’s job is to take out the rest of the crew, while remaining unknown to them.

Among Us is now a massive hit, and that success seems to be carrying over to Switch, going off this chart. Here’s the full list for the month of December 2020:
