Animal Crossing: New Horizons food donations meals FareShare turnips Animal Crossing Hellmann's Island

Back in August, Hellmann’s kicked off a digital campaign to remind everyone not to waste food. The company, famous for its mayonnaise (which is delicious may I add), saw what was happening with rotting turnips in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. So, it opened up its own Hellmann’s Island for turnip donations. The island is returning ahead of Christmas, where rotten New Horizons turnips equal food bank meal donations.

You can visit Hellmann’s Island in Animal Crossing with your rotting veg, and for every turnip dropped off, Hellmann’s will donate two meals to FareShare food bank. FareShare is a UK charity organization that aims to reduce food waste and help those in poverty. It’s a great cause and one absolutely worth donating to when all it costs is a rotten turnip.

The rewards don’t even stop there this time around. If you visit the island, you can now grab an ugly food waste jumper in return, it being Christmas time and all. To participate, you have to contact Hellmann’s UK on Twitter to receive a dodo code for visiting the island. The Twitter account will be available to contact between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET each day, from Dec. 14 to 18.

Hellmann’s will donate up to 50,000 free meals through this program in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, if enough rotten turnips are dropped off.
