Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is one of the first looks we’ve had at what Switch players can pull off with access to actual social features. That long-pent-up creativity is only accentuated with COVID-19-imposed lockdowns sweeping the globe and cooping people up inside. We already saw a surprise in-game wedding earlier this week, and now, we’ve got a birthday party on our hands. A couple of days ago, friends of PlayStation London producer Alexia Christofi got together and put together a birthday bash for her nine-year-old daughter, Sophia.

What does one do at an Animal Crossing: New Horizons birthday party? For Sophia, the festivities involved decorations, gifts, party poppers, music, and hide and seek.

Have you been using Animal Crossing: New Horizons to get your social kicks in? Have you put together any in-game celebrations for friends like we see here? If you know someone with any exciting occasions coming up that may have been stifled by COVID-19, this game is the perfect title for a little impromptu get-together.

Many of us are not doing so hot right now. COVID-19 is a scary, real thing. Stories like this one – about people coming together and lifting spirits – are important now more than ever. Animal Crossing: New Horizons came at the absolute perfect time.
