Animal Crossing: New Horizons Japan commercial

It’s been a tough year, no doubt, yet Animal Crossing: New Horizons has provided a beacon of co-op joy. To close out the year, Nintendo Japan has launched a new commercial showing that Animal Crossing: New Horizons hasn’t just brought us together. It’s also brought the creatures of Animal Crossing together as well.

The short clip shows Tom Nook sharing a table with fellow residents, a rare sight indeed. I mean, did you expect to see Nook and Redd share a table and a drink like this? No, us neither, but in 2020 we all need to pull together. Anyway, the trailer is adorable and feels like the perfect way to close out a year where New Horizons has taken over on Switch.

It’s also taken over in the very same region this trailer has come from. It’s not often a game sells as well as New Horizons has in Japan, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. In fact, just last week, the game reached a milestone that puts it in elite company. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has now sold six million units in Japan, becoming one of only five games in the region to hit that figure. It did it in record time too, and the figures only account for physical copies. Digital sales would likely bump that figure up substantially.

Anyway, yes, New Horizons is doing pretty well in just about every region. Will you be closing out the year with some Animal Crossing?
