Animal Crossing: New Horizons free update March 18 3/18 first 1st anniversary cake Sanrio sweetness

Time flies when you’re locked indoors and perpetually grieving the loss of thousands, apparently, because Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Nintendo Switch is about to become one year old. To celebrate its birthday on March 20, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is getting a free update slightly earlier on March 18, bringing a variety of nice things and also some improvements to customization options. Plus, a 1st Anniversary Cake will be delivered to your in-game mailbox on the day of the update.

On March 18, you will receive “50 additional custom design slots to both the Normal and Pro Custom Design modes,” and you will be able to “add the Custom Design Portal found in the Able Sisters store directly to your in-game NookPhone app” in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Additionally, you can spend Nook Miles to unlock the upgraded Custom Design Pro Editor, which provides a “more robust set of features, allowing for the customization of umbrellas, small flags, uchiwa, and photo stands.”

Furthermore, starting March 26 in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the Animal Crossing Sanrio Collaboration Pack will be available at Target for $5.99. It includes six amiibo cards that invite Sanrio-inspired characters like Rita, Chi, and Toby to your island, in addition to allowing you to spend bells on Sanrio-themed furniture and fashion items.

Between March 26 and April 1, you will also be able to collect different-colored whoopee cushions for April Fools’ Day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. And between April 1 and April 30, you will be able to buy themed fashion and home items for prom season, showing that Nintendo really has thought of everything.

Finally, adjacent to the update, on March 23 the game will receive Tour Creator, a limited-time web service intended to run till the end of the year. It will let you “use screenshots and footage captured in Animal Crossing: New Horizons to create a poster and trailer for your island.”

This is a wide amount of content coming in this free birthday update of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. What aspect has you most intrigued?
