Time traveling in Animal Crossing is a controversial subject. Some utilize the “method” to be able to see all of what the game has to offer in a timely manner. However, others feel strongly that it’s wrong and that you aren’t playing the way the game is intended to be experienced. Broadly speaking, Nintendo hasn’t blocked users from time traveling, but as the winter events are coming, things are changing.
To prevent players from experiencing the upcoming Turkey Day and Toy Day early, Nintendo is banning time travel. Basically, if you try and skip ahead to either event, it won’t occur. Instead, you’ll have to wait until the world catches up. That’s Nov. 26 for Turkey Day and Dec. 24 for Toy Day.
This change has been deployed in the Winter Update. As far as we know, aside from upcoming events, time traveling remains the same elsewhere. That also means that once an event has happened, you’ll be able to travel back and re-experience it. We think this is a good change in preventing event spoilers. Thanksgiving and Christmas events are to be enjoyed together, including in Animal Crossing, and this change means that players who want to wait won’t get things spoiled.
Do you agree with this time traveling change in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?
