Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Plenty of games these days have important day-one patches to download that finalize the game or enable online features for release, and highly anticipated island getaway experience Animal Crossing: New Horizons is no different. We already knew that downloadable updates would be coming to the game throughout the year to add special holiday-themed events for players to experience, but we now have details on what the first of those downloadable updates entails, as well as the bonus house-decorating items players can get upon downloading the update.

Once you download the version 1.10 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you’ll be able to claim a special in-game furniture item – a Nintendo Switch! You’ll be able to place the hybrid handheld anywhere in your tent (or eventual home), and if you happen to own the special Animal Crossing-themed Nintendo Switch and play the game with either of the Joy-Cons it comes with, your in-game Nintendo Switch will sport that design instead of the standard look.

Nintendo Switch Online Subscribers will also be able to spend their hard-earned Nook Miles on an exclusive Nook Inc. themed rug in-game.

As for the version 1.10 update itself, downloading this will enable various online functions for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. For starters, it will allow you to visit the islands of other players, as well as connect to the NookLink service via the official Nintendo Switch Online app. This service allows you to scan Custom Design QR code patterns from the previous games, as well as chat with your friends via text or voice as you play together. This update is also required in order to experience the Easter-themed Bunny Day event, although you’ll need to wait until April 1 and connect to the internet to access an updated version 1.1.0a update that actually enables the holiday event.
