It is now the month of November, which means more Pokémon is on the way! In addition to Pokémon Sword and Shield‘s launch on November 15, 2019, a new season of the anime is also en route. A trailer for the show debuted today that has some interesting tidbits, including a glimpse at Pikachu’s life of freedom before Ash used him for sport.

I cannot believe this anime started while I was in Junior High

Here’s the first look at the fresh season:

This looks like a great juxtaposition of the old and new. We see some familiar Pokémon we all grew up with, as well as newcomers from the upcoming Switch titles. A new protagonist is shown along with Ash, and he looks like he has the same vigor to be the very best (like no one ever was). The soundtrack is straight fire, too.

Also, there are brief shots of Pikachu’s beginnings as Pichu. It looks like we’ll get to learn how he evolved into Pikachu and the trials and tribulations he experienced before he was caught by Professor Oak. How many Pokémon must have been demolished by untamed Pichu to reach evolution?! Hopefully, the anime will give us an exact tally.

The first episode of the new anime will debut in Japan on November 15, 2019, the very same day of Sword and Shield‘s release!

Enthusiasts, will you be watching the next season of the Pokémon anime? Are you picking up the new games, too? Let us know below!
