Arcade Archives Gradius is out tomorrow worldwide on the Switch eShop. The 1985 classic scrolling shooter is the first in a popular series. It began as an arcade game, but has been ported to plenty of different systems over the last few decades. The game spawned several sequels, but the franchise at large has not seen a new release in quite a while, with the most recent being Gradius the Slot in 2011. For a bit more on Arcade Archives Gradius, check out the PR info below.
Gradius is a shooting game that was released in 1985. Players control the Super Dimension fighter “Vic Viper” and fight “Bacterian” with the aid of devastating power-ups. This shooting game is the first of a masterpiece series from Konami that had a major impact on later shooters.
Arcade Archives Gradius joins a large family of Arcade Archives titles. The line is responsible for bringing plenty of old arcade games onto Switch, which is an especially nice dose of retro goodness in the absence of a full-fledged Virtual Console.
You’ll be able to grab Arcade Archives Gradius for $7.99. Think you’ll give it a go, or is $8 a bit much for a game approaching its 40th anniversary? Let us know what you think in the comments.
