In just a few months, Game Freak will release the next generation of Pokémon games. Pokémon Sword and Shield will take trainers to the new Galar Region. They also introduce new game mechanics, like Dynamax battles and the Wild Area. There’s a lot to be excited about, but the games are also drawing a lot of criticism online. During the Nintendo Treehouse E3 broadcast, we learned that you won’t be able to transfer over all past Pokémon. There’s just too many of the little critters these days, so the National Dex had to be ditched. Has this decision impacted your hype for the upcoming Switch titles?
Personally, I’m a bit disappointed, but it’s far from a deal-breaker. It’s a bit sad that the old motto no longer holds true, but I’ve never been a total completionist. It was unlikely that I was going to attempt to collect all 1,000+ Pokémon (counting alternate forms) anyway. However, I am eager to see just how many Pokémon are being left behind in Sword and Shield, and which ones. I invested a ton of time into the Let’s Go games, and I have over 20 Shiny Pokémon saved on my file. I’m really hoping I can bring over the majority of them, if not all.
