Astral Chain

While we still have a little under a week to go before players can get their hands on Astral Chain, the first review has released, coming from Weekly Famitsu. Platinum Games’ latest action title has scored a 37 out of a possible 40 points! Famitsu reviews are based on a panel of four reviewers, each giving the game a score out of ten. The full scoring for Astral Chain was 9/10/9/9.

Astral Chain will release on Aug 30 exclusively for the Switch. With a score like that, the high octane action game will surely garner its fair share of attention. This will be the first brand new Platinum game on the Switch, and it will be followed (eventually) by Bayonetta 3. Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 are also available on the Switch.

I’ve been paying close attention to Astral Chain, from gameplay, to cinematics, to even developer interviews. It’s clear that this will be another win for the wizards at Platinum. First-time director Takahisa Taura has been a designer on other smash hit Platinum titles Nier: Automata and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance – a great resume!

If you’re like me and not exactly the most coordinated player, they’ve even implemented customizable difficulty with the “Unchained Mode”. Or if you’re some kind of masochist, you can play in co-op, with one player controlling the avatar and another the Legion, which will apparently be much harder. Platinum Games has definitely put the work in.

What do you think? Are you still on the fence for Astral Chain? Will the Famitsu score or other reviews change your mind? Let us know in the comments.
