Atelier Ryza celebrates being second best-selling in franchise with new art

Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout second best-selling new art Koei Tecmo

Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout has now sold over 350,000 copies. This data comes from publisher Koei Tecmo, who reported the sales figures of Atelier Ryza in their Q3 sales results. The milestone was recently celebrated with a brand new piece of artwork.

Second-best selling in franchise history

Atelier Sophie: Alchemist of the Mysterious Book, the first game in the Atelier Mysterious Trilogy, is the only game to have sold better in total, at 370,000 units sold. However, Atelier Sophie launched in Japan in 2015. Atelier Ryza only launched last year. Additionally, Ryza already holds the record for strongest launch sales in the franchise’s history, selling 150,000 units in Japan during its launch window. By comparison, Atelier Sophie sold over 68,000 units during its launch window.

Atelier Ryza is probably the most accessible game for those who want to get into the series. The alchemy system has been streamlined to make it easier to understand. The game has also seen a lot of support in the months following its launch. In November last year the game received a photo mode update. Shortly after that, new costumes were added for characters. Finally, the game now contains more than 350 BGM songs from previous Atelier entries.

The Atelier series has been around since 1997, when Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg released for PlayStation and then other platforms, and it has spawned many sequels and spin-offs since. Atelier Dusk Series Deluxe Pack is the most recent entry on Nintendo Switch, and it seems like Koei Temco has no intention of slowing its efforts to bring the series west.
