Atelier series 25th anniversary game to be announced at TGS 2021

Koei Tecmo has confirmed that it will announce an Atelier series 25th anniversary game at Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2021 Online early next month. The publisher has also launched a special Atelier website that will have everything involved with the series’s 25th anniversary, which will include the new game and other projects and commemorative plans.

Developer Gust and Koei Tecmo will announce the Atelier series 25th anniversary game on Oct. 2 at 8:00 p.m. (JST) via the “Koei Tecmo Special Program” livestream for TGS 2021 Online. The Atelier series started with Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg for PlayStation in May 1997, so the new game will likely launch sometime around May 2022 around the anniversary.

The anniversary website shows the above image and a message that the developers are preparing the new anniversary game, various projects, and plans for the milestone with fan gratitude in mind. It doesn’t provide any clues as to what the Atelier 25th anniversary game could be, but we’ll find out what it is by the end of next week at TGS 2021.

There’s nothing concrete for now, but last week the Australian ratings board rated Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream, suggesting that a sequel is underway. A new game similar to Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists: Ateliers of the New World is also possible, considering it will be a “25th anniversary” title. It’s also a good excuse to get protagonists together for another spin-off title.
