If you’re like me, you’ve been craving Axiom Verge 2 ever since finishing the original game in 2015. The sequel is deep in development, but delays have struck twice thus far. It’s currently aiming to launch in Q3 of this year, but you don’t have to wait that long to get another look at it. Developer Tom Happ just teased that we’re getting a sneak peek of the game at Day of the Devs.
Axiom Verge 2 at Day of the Devs
If you’re not familiar with Day of the Devs, I don’t blame you. E3 week is packed with press conferences under various banners, and it can be hard to keep track. This particular live stream is set for tomorrow, June 10 at 10:30 am Pacific /1:30 pm Eastern. Double Fine and iam8bit are teaming up to host the show, which seeks to celebrate the “creativity, diversity, and magic of the indie game community.” Axiom Verge 2 will be a welcome addition to the lineup, which is one of many events in Geoff Keighley’s Summer Games Fest.
Happ originally planned to launch Axiom Verge 2 in late 2020, but the ambitious project needed more time. Happ is a solo developer, tackling graphics, programming, music, writing, and more alone. The eagerly-awaited sequel contains more complex enemy AI and a more fluid art style, which has proven time-consuming. If it achieves similar critical acclaim to the first game, it’ll be well worth the wait. Tune in tomorrow to catch a sneak peek! We’ll be covering it all live here at Nintendo Enthusiast.
