Balan Wondeworld music

Things are not looking good for Balan Wonderworld, the latest effort from Sonic creators Yuji Naka and Naoto Ohshima. At launch, the game had a serious issue with a photo-sensitive epilepsy risk during the final battle, which was patched out on day one, though it is still an extremely shoddy game. Balan Wonderworld now faces another issue, with one person accusing the game’s music of knocking off a song from the 1984 film, Ghostbusters. The Balan song in question is called “The Firefighter with Heroic Aspirations: Main Theme,” composed by Ryo Yamazaki, but it sounds awfully similar to the “Ghostbusters Theme” by Elmer Bernstein.

Twitter account GigaBoots first noted the similarity between both songs. Square Enix hasn’t commented on this matter and will most likely stay silent on it. Potential Ghostbusters influences aside, it is a shame that Balan Wonderworld ended up being a disappointment, as its initial reveal was met with a ton of positivity. We can only hope that Square Enix continues to patch the game alongside the development team, but let’s be honest, there’s a low chance that this game can be saved from its tragic fate, even if a few people are managing to find enjoyment in it.
