Bandai Namco Wahoo Encore trademark suggests possible Klonoa revival

Bandai Namco recently filed trademarks in Japan for “Wahoo Encore” and “1&2 Encore,” suggesting a possible revival of the Klonoa series.

If you’re not familiar with Bandai Namco remasters in Japan, they give it the Encore title. The Japanese titles of the Katamari Damacy Reroll and Mr. Driller DrillLand remasters are Katamari Damacy Encore and Mr. Driller Encore.

Bandai Namco already trademarked Klonoa Encore back in September 2019, adding fuel to the revival speculation, but we haven’t heard anything about it since then. Now, if you’re wondering what the heck Wahoo Encore is, well, “Wahoo!” is kind of Klonoa’s catchphrase. Check out the video below for your dose of Klonoa Wahoos from each title screen:

I can’t think of any other Bandai Namco property that uses the “Wahoo” catchphrase, so it’s safe to assume it is related to Klonoa for a possible “Encore” remaster or revival of some sort. The last entry from the series was the 2008 Wii game Klonoa, a remake of the 1997 PlayStation game Klonoa: Door to Phantomile.

Now, if you’re wondering about the “1&2 Encore” trademark, your guess is as good as mine. If it is also related to Klonoa, that means it could be a possible remaster for the first two games, Klonoa: Door to Phantomile and Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil.
