Beat Saber mod Super Mario Bros. World 1-1 VR

This past March, Beat Games’ Beat Saber surpassed 2 million copies sold. As a VR rhythm game that takes popular music and transforms it into video game levels, it has without argument become one of the premier VR experiences. However, the modding scene has made it even more popular still, and YouTuber Mawntee has created a Beat Saber mod that recreates Super Mario Bros. World 1-1 in the game. It uses the song “DADADADA (kidnun super mario mix)” by Wuki as its song, and it’s about as trippy as you would expect.

YouTube channel TougeVR offers the Super Mario Bros. World 1-1 Beat Saber mod from another perspective that makes it easier to understand exactly how things are placed in the level.

I can’t offer anything in the way of commentary as to how Mawntee crafted this Beat Saber mod; I only ever played the game once at a friend’s house, and it didn’t click with me. However, the old PC game Audiosurf, which is basically the same game minus VR and works with all music, is something I will be playing till the end of time.

In any case, Super Mario Bros. World 1-1 is quite possibly the most recognizable level in video game history, and it still shows up pretty often in the gaming world — often in unexpected places.
