Berserk Boy

New developer BerserkBoy games just announced their debut title, Berserk Boy, through a reveal trailer. From the trailer, it’s immediately obvious that Berserk Boy is a vibrant and high-octane action-platformer that takes plenty of inspiration from the Genesis and SNES era of 16-bit classics. Game series such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man both appear to have an overt influence on the game. Check out the trailer below, courtesy of IGN, to see what I’m talking about.

Berserk Boy stars Kei, a hero with the ability to change into various elemental forms (the trailer shows distinct fire, ice, air, and earth abilities). According to the trailer, Kei is on a mission to liberate New Hope City with his various elemental abilities. The gameplay shown is fast-paced and loaded with tons of angry enemies, so expect to make good use of those elemental powers when playing the game. In addition to what we’re shown on screen, the developers highlight a deep upgrade system, beautiful cutscenes, and 16-bit music from Sonic Mania composer Tee Lopes.

Set for a Q4 2022 release on PC, Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series, Berserk Boy is looking pretty great this early on. Are you interested in picking it up? Let us know in the comments below.
