It’s getting cold outside, but Nintendo Switch is hotter than ever! Nintendo is still selling the hybrid console at $300, but they introduced the handheld-only Switch Lite at $200. As expected, this helped Nintendo reach a broader audience and boost sales. In addition to Switch Lite boosting sales, Nintendo notes that bundles helped make the console more attractive during this period. We previously reported that Switch was a big Black Friday winner, and now we have more details. A Nintendo press release shows that Switch sold over 830,000 units from November 24 to November 30. That would make it Switch’s best-ever week in the US!
Nick Chavez, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, issued the following statement:
“Holiday shoppers see the value of Nintendo Switch, which offers a vast library of games for every type of player. Whether shopping for the ideal gift or picking one up for yourself, the Nintendo Switch family of systems provides options that fit every play style.”
This best-ever Black Friday week brings the total number of Nintendo Switch consoles sold in the US to over 17.5 million. That number is higher than what Wii U sold worldwide during its entire time on the market. Given that sales numbers from Japan have also been outstanding in recent weeks, Nintendo’s in for a hugely successful holiday season.
