Nintendo has announced its planned offerings for Black Friday 2019, including $20 off on various first-party Nintendo Switch titles like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Splatoon 2. There are absolutely zero Switch Lite discounts (not surprising in the slightest), but there is a Black Friday Switch / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle for $299.99, with a savings of about $60. This is the same bundle from last year. However, it is exactly the same bundle — down to the hardware model.
Nintendo notes of the Black Friday Switch bundle: “*Includes original Nintendo Switch model HAC-001. Battery performance ranges from 2.5 to 6.5 hours. For more information, see support.nintendo.com/switch/battery.” For those unaware, Switch upgraded this year to model “HAC-001(-01),” which offers 4.5 to 9 hours of battery life, a dramatic improvement at no additional cost.
So here is a weird thing.
Nintendo says that the Switch model in the Mario Kart 8 bundle is the old model without improved battery life.
So bear in mind that if you buy this model you're not getting the HAC-001(-01) model with 4.5-9 hours battery life. pic.twitter.com/BViJiQn03r

Is it worth $60 to suffer from hours less battery per charge than is necessary? If you genuinely never plan to use the Switch outside the house, then sure, it probably is. Sixty bucks is better than nothing. For everyone who actually plans to utilize the hybrid console’s mobility though, this sounds like an impractical sacrifice.
Would you still consider this Black Friday Switch / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle in spite of the drawback? Let us know what you think.
