The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild NPC Mii UMii generate new characters Alice heyimheroic

With a game as widely played and revered as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you wouldn’t think there would be a lot of secrets left to mine from the game. However, it seems something new and pretty massive has been discovered by Twitter user @HEYimHeroic, aka Alice. She states that Breath of the Wild NPCs are actually generated via a unique type of Mii called a UMii, which was apparently a format used for Miis on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS that was more complicated in some respects.

As Alice explains it, it’s not as simple as plugging a UMii into Breath of the Wild and watching it spit out a corresponding NPC; it apparently requires a lot of additional input. Also, since Breath of the Wild does not support all the hair styles that Miis \ UMiis do, the game will attempt to convert that hair into the closest option available to create an NPC. In any case, the final results of this process are pretty wild, as you can see how Alice inserted a Final Fantasy VII Barret Mii from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and popped out a new NPC.

This is a truly major revelation for Breath of the Wild, and it makes us wonder what other massive Nintendo secrets might be hiding right beneath our noses.
