Brie Larson loves Nintendo. We’ve got heaps of evidence for that. She’s way into Animal Crossing, she almost didn’t know what to say when Doug Bowser tweeted at her, and she’s made it clear before that she’d love to star as Samus Aran in a Metroid movie. Yesterday, she reiterated her interest in such a project on Star Wars: Rogue One writer Gary Whitta’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons talk show, “Animal Talking.”
On the show, Gary Whitta asked Brie Larson to explain why she seems to pop up in conversations about Samus Aran and Metroid so much. She explained, as you may or may not already know, that the topic emerged when she excitedly donned a Halloween costume modeled after the orange-clad bounty hunter two years ago. Fans started begging for her to star as the character soon after, and Brie Larson, in addition to illustrating her love for the character and the fact that she even mains Samus in Super Smash Bros., admits that she “definitely did not put a squash to that story.” She then emphasized her continued interest in the character and such a project, saying “Nintendo, once again, I’d love to do it!”
We already think that Brie Larson would do a fantastic job as Samus Aran. The ball is in Nintendo’s court and has been for a while. Hopefully, they keep Brie Larson in mind if they ever do decide to move forward with a Metroid movie.
