Developer Cowcat has released a new trailer for Brok the InvestiGator, a “punch & click” adventure headed to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC in 2022. The narrative-driven game offers a hybrid of beat ’em up brawling and point-and-click investigation, and it’s set in a “light cyberpunk” world where humans are out and animal people are in. Characters are designed to have an aesthetic reflecting ’80s and ’90s cartoons, and there is full voice acting for 23,000 lines of dialogue. The protagonist is Brok, a detective and former boxer, who lives with his son Graff, and there is apparently a mystery brewing around how Brok’s wife died.
If you’re no good at beating people up and don’t want to be bothered to try, Brok the InvestiGator offers an “easy” option that lets you skip fights and just focus on the point-and-click aspects. (Ruined King made this same wise decision recently.) Your first playthrough is expected to last 15-to-20 hours, but there are multiple different endings to discover. All in all, this sounds like a pretty unique game that will cater to a particular, perhaps older demographic, and if you want to try it now, Cowcast released Brok the InvestiGator – Prologue for free on PC one year ago. (That’s why the new Brok trailer is called the “Anniversary Trailer.”)
Stay tuned for a firmer release date on this punch-and-click game next year.
