Burnout Paradise Remastered Nintendo Switch available now Criterion Games EA Electronic Arts

Burnout Paradise Remastered is finally here on Nintendo Switch. Its freeform open world and arcade racing physics seem a good match for on-the-go racing. It’s certainly welcome to see the genre expand on Switch, as there’s not much realistic racing goodness on Nintendo’s latest system. EA has now released a launch trailer for the remaster of this 2008 hit.

The trailer is pretty brief, showing off a sizzle reel of racing clips from Burnout Paradise Remastered. It’s a shame that Guns N’ Roses’ “Paradise City” doesn’t grace the trailer, as the tune fit perfectly with the 2008 original. The high-octane racing is retained though, and the port runs at 60 FPS according to the trailer. It’s also bundled in with all eight post-launch DLC packs, although it should at the launch price of $50!

Although the frame rate sits smooth on Switch, Burnout Paradise Remastered retains that muted color palette we saw so much last generation. That’s true of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions too, which launched in 2018. Still, with open-world racing at 60 FPS on the go, I can’t complain too much.

Burnout Paradise Remastered is available now, and EA has committed to bringing six more games to Nintendo Switch within the next 12 months. Lost in Random will also release sometime in 2021 as an EA Original.
