Byleth

Byleth of Fire Emblem: Three Houses was revealed today as the last member of the inaugural Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass. Many fans have been more than a little disappointed about Byleth’s addition, due to the game’s massive roster having its fair share of swords and Fire Emblem, and perhaps because of some high standards set by past DLC like Banjo. Others, meanwhile, are happy to see some representation specific to Fire Emblem: Three Houses, or may be enticed by Byleth’s wide arsenal and methodical fighting style. Which side do you fall on?

I’m a little lukewarm, myself, but I do enjoy messing around with the various sword fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and I’m sure Byleth will not be all too different. I’m excited to play as and enjoy a new character, and I do not think that the overall roster quality is significantly diluted by another Fire Emblem character. I have been a little checked out of the DLC reveals ever since seeing my all-time most-wanted character, Banjo, make it in, though. At this point, even though there are other characters that I seriously hope to see (like Crash Bandicoot, Phoenix Wright, or Professor Layton), I’m gonna be happy with whoever we get so long as they are fun to play as. Byleth looks like they will fit that bill, so I’m good with him joining.

How do you feel about Byleth joining the fight? Are you disappointed, excited, or emphatically whelmed? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
