An ESRB rating for a Switch port of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger appeared this morning. When combining this news with an announcement earlier this year from Techland’s chief technical officer hinting at a surprise for Switch in 2019, it sure looks as if the western FPS will land on Nintendo’s portable system before 2020.
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger joins a long line of third-party M-rated Switch ports from the past few generations. The GameCube was left out of several titles, such as another possibly-Switch-destined game in Grand Theft Auto III, while the Wii and Wii U were almost entirely barren of adult-oriented games like Call of Juarez: Gunslinger.
The port is still unconfirmed, but the ESRB rating does substantiate the rumors and tease from earlier this year. I would bet that fans of the old west will be enjoying the game’s spaghetti western shootouts before too long.
At this point, nothing is known about the extent to which Call of Juarez: Gunslinger would be enhanced on Switch. A full remake seems very unlikely, but the game’s added portability along with some slightly boosted visuals would go a long way. If Techland were feeling especially ambitious, they could even add a bit of new content to draw fans of the original game back in for another go-around.
