Very strange and interesting rumors are going around about Resident Evil 8 these days, but regardless of whether any of them are true, we can say with absolute certainty that Capcom is fully invested in the franchise. Toward that end, the developer has a new survey up. Among other things, it gauges players’ interest in more Resident Evil remakes and sequels. It asks how likely you might be to purchase new titles and when, even basically asking if you would be willing to buy a new console for it. So Capcom clearly has PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on the brain, at the least.
You could pessimistically believe that this survey means nothing for Nintendo Switch owners, and that might be true. Although, Japan can uniquely play Resident Evil 7 on Switch via cloud streaming, and references to Switch randomly appeared in the code for the Resident Evil 3 remake that just released. Plus, the eShop has a wide assortment of RE ports, so it’s not like Nintendo has been receiving nothing in the franchise from Capcom. More remakes and sequels of some kind on the console are possible.
Although, it’s also important to keep in mind that Japanese game developers just really seem to like polling players about their feelings on their franchises. Heck, Atlus asked players about their interest to see Persona 5 Scramble in the west when they already know full well how badly we need it goddangit.
In any case, what Resident Evil remakes would you still like to see from Capcom? Are you getting antsy for Code Veronica?
