Revealed at today’s Devolver Direct, Carrion from developer Phobia Game Studio and publisher Devolver Digital will launch on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC via Steam on July 23. It’s a “reverse horror” game where you play as the monster that has gotten loose. You’re kind of a blob monster that can eat the people in the facility who tried to contain you. In turn, you will grow and evolve, developing more dangerous abilities and ensuring you are a horror of horrors.
Our sister site PC Invasion previewed this title a full year ago, so you can head over there if you want some in-depth impressions. Additionally, Steam offers a free “Carrion Sneak Peek” for the game if you want to try it out yourself.
Phobia Game Studio seems to have touched down on a pretty clever twist on familiar tropes, so hopefully Carrion turns out as fun to play as its premise would suggest. A maniacal publisher like Devolver Digital is precisely the type of dudes and dudettes to publish a game like this too. We’ll keep you abreast of any more major Nintendo Switch news to come out of the (extremely bizarre, debatable whether in a good way) Devolver Direct today.
