Nintendo Switch April ONeil trailer CatDog Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl TMNT Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles April O'Neil

Future Games Show is the most agonizingly boring and meandering showcase in the universe, but the Gamescom edition of the event had some worthwhile showings. Notably, Nickelodeon, game publisher GameMill Entertainment, and game developers Ludosity and Fair Play Labs announced that CatDog and April O’Neil from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) are joining the roster of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. The game is essentially a Nickelodeon take on Super Smash Bros. that was announced last month for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, and it will release this fall. It will offer four-player local and online play (and will apparently feature rollback netcode).

CatDog originates from a 1998 cartoon of the same name and is about a creature that is cat on one end and dog on the other — hence, CatDog. Suffice to say, I wasn’t a fan of that show, but enough other people were to keep it going for four seasons. Meanwhile, everyone knows news reporter April O’Neil from TMNT, who is suddenly a busy lady these days since she was just announced as a playable character in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. Both CatDog and April O’Neil should make for unique additions to the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl roster.

With CatDog and April O’Neil on the books, who else are you still hoping to see join Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl?
