Square Enix only had one new game reveal at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, but the company has made up for it by announcing the cutest Final Fantasy picture book for children titled Chocobo and the Flying Ship.
Take to the blue skies with an adventurer’s heart, together with Chocobo!
The Final Fantasy series is getting its first picture book featuring our favorite mascot and the inventor Cid who never gives up. Chocobo will face monsters that attempt to assault the village in this heartwarming tale.
The book’s author is Square Enix veteran designer Kazuhiko Aoki, who worked on various designs for the Final Fantasy series and directed Chocobo’s Dungeon 2. The illustrator is veteran character designer Toshiyuki Itahana, who worked as the main character designer for the Chocobo’s Dungeon games. Itahana didn’t design the original Chocobo, but he’s the one behind the cute, round Chocobo that we all know and love today.
